Canadian Art Doll

Created a second art doll today. She is a Canadian as the central blue beads and the maple leaf charms came from a friend DM.

She took about four hours... This was important as my local embroiderers guild branch have had a tutor cancel for May. It was suggested that an art doll class was run. Ermm yup being talking into taking the class !?!?! Not 100% sure of this ... although it must be my year as I have already been talked into doing a talk on my C&G work too !!

Well I think we can make a doll inside a day. =)
Creative Weekend

Developed a heavy cold on Tuesday ... its coming out finally. Fed up at being ill =(

Did spend a couple of hours in the studio yesterday. Added more to machine stitching to a red and yellow samples I started last week. The backgrounds where created with silk off cuts which had been pre-dyed.

Added silk off cuts, waste from silk production... all the bits from Steff Fancis.. The yellow piece also recieved a caste face which I had been sent ages ago !!! Loved to flower heads created by the cacoon waste... stitched each one down with three rows to created the shape =)

Thus wanted to create another piece. Layed down a large amount of green silk waste and randomly stitched over it with a rayon thread then added pink flower heads ... then MORE green in a darker colour to make stems.

Now want to add more fibre with hand stitching.... Watch This Space !

The last few days dug out my crochet hook and made a small item for a new little person... also FINALLY added all the beads and charms to my Canada sampler started when we were on holiday. DH loves it -well it has a moose on it !! Now need a frame.

The rest of this week has been a wash out. First a tummy infection now a cold. I have spend most of the week working from home.

Owl Table Cloth

Spent this weekend working on the owl table cloth. Not been well so wanted to work on something that was easier to cope with. Really pleased that I am over the 50% point. It is from a german cross stitch magazine.

So we should had been drving off to MIL house on Friday. We both had the day off , but by 10am I was back in bed ... food posioning or a bug not sure. But its Sunday and I am still not 100%.

Advantage is that being layed up it has gave me time to update the home web site. DH was working on his area so I thought I would have a try... First version was much smaller, lost of the rubbish but not right. Asked a few friends who gave me some ideas... and last night DH put up my new version ! =)

C&G More Corset Work

Spent Saturday making machine embroidery leaves to add to a corset structure. Putting wire round the edge gave the form and the loose ends became tendrills...

The green only leaves did not work out quite as well as the two made with varigated rayon which had yellow, red, bloack and brown in them !!! The shape came out .. but I guess that is the wire in the edge. Made sure the wire was captured under a close zig-zag stitch!

Added to a corset base they work ... YEY ! Really getting close to a final piece here. Time for MORE drawing... =)

Loon update 2

The loon is coming along quite well. The neck is starting to appear. Bad news is the neck and head a 80% the same colour, oh well !!!

Looking forward to reaching the eye.

Back to work this week... So not much other stuff done. I did buy and completely read a book in two days. The book is "The Undomestic Goddess" ...Worth a read !! The new series of Charmed started on Thursday ... And been watching the Darak updates each evening with DH.

DH has pulled all the code off our web site - so we can make lots of changes and updates. So news on the will come soon. The web site I think will need a HUGE make over ...

HAPPY
NEW
YEAR
2006

I spent most of New Years Eve working on my samples for my C&G course. Looked to see if I could work with twigs with teh leaves still on ...

Looks OK but the leaves are not going to stay for long. Will think about creating leaves with machine embroidery then wire them to the twigs..

Did try some ideas with having lights in the center too. Have added two pictures for you to see what I mean. Used a candle as a temporary measure - but will think round using a bulb so that it is not a fire risk. Perhaps will see if there are any small sets of Xmas lights which could be used !

Had a lovely surprise, a plant -Gardenia- arrived from my parents to thank us for helping with the PC & at least getting some of it sorted out =)

DH and I stayed up last night. Thought about going out, but changed our minds. In the end I sat watching back to back re-runs of Fraisier while stitching the second Rainbow square for the Embroiderers Guild. Working a couched wave over the fabric, it came out OK - picture below... I think the first piece (see old note) was better ! Did enjoy sorting out different textures of threads to use !
