Long Bank Holiday

Yey, four days at home. Been busy sorting out bits and pieces but the best news unlike the rest of the country we hardly had any snow !!

Its generally been a good week. Tuesday evening my local embroidery group, Liss in Stitches, had a guess speaker. Denise Jones gave an excellent talk about white work. It had lots of examples from her C&G work , historic pieces and work from her degree course ,which is taking with Opus. Next weekend I will be attending the day school she is doing for the group =)

Friday morning the sun was shining and I got out to the green house. First started the clearing out in there. Then dug over the veg plot , then planted potatoes (1st earlies, 2nd eariles and main crop ), onion sets and shallot sets ! The potatoe plots look like graves as I have heaped the earth over them.

Saturday was shopping day, as the super markets round here were to be closed on sunday, we had to do the main shop then. Not DH's fav time of the week to do food shopping as the stores are VERY busy !! We did have a few flurries of snow during the day but nothing that stuck. Not like my parents and sister in Essex who sent me text messages of the snow !

Rest of the time, well I have been stitching..... LOL Bet that was a surprised. Working more on my master class door project and little on another L*K piece. I have had a search round the sewing room to make sure I had everything I need for the day school next week !!

Art and Shropshire

Yesterday had a nice day in London round the bead and art shops in Covent Garden with Captain and Z. Did not go too mad but did have a small haul when I got home. Travel was hairy as the train line had engineering works which meant I was on buses for part of the journey.

Been busy creating a very personnel piece of art. The latest issue of Cloth Paper Scissors had an article about creating a collaged affirmation piece of work which would show positive messages. I was quite inspired with this and as there was a boxed canvas waiting in my studio I set aboutcreating my verion, as you can see above. I did like that I could loose most of the head off the top edge as faces are not my strong point. It is going to be hung in my studio.

Now I have already started to plan number two, this time using a simple house image to include positive familly statements. Could become gifts !! Errrmmmm But it was fun playing with paint and mix media other than thread =)

Last weekend visited Shropshire with hubby and our friends C&J. Below is the lovely B&B we stayed in just outside Shrewbury.

Saturday we all went different ways, the boys to visit trains and the girls to go shopping. Then Sunday we all went to the Iron Bridge muesems.

We started the day at Blists Hill the Victorian village. They have started building works so some of the site could not be accessed. All the staff are in costume as you can see below. It was a beautiful day , just check out the blue sky in the back ground of the following pictures. http://family.webshots.com/album/562796068WndeFj See all the picture here.

This is the window of the steamstress. My friend and I spent quite a while in there looking over all the display and chatting with the lady.
After Blists Hill we moved on to the Mueseum of Iron ,of more interest to the boys and we went to look round the Darby House. This held a number of embroideries, embroidery equipment ,lace and a dressing up room which we had lots of fun trying things on. We were basically the only visitors so could spend a good long time.
Then we all moved on to see the Iron Bridge itself and visit the small display muesuem too.

Finally here is Pippi, sitting with me in the studio. I have a rag doll on the day bed in here which she will often sit on, but only on its lap... Arrhh sweetie.

A Quiet Weekend

Its a quiet weekend as most of my week has been taken up with working on my final piece for my Master Class module.

Its Mothers Day today, I sent both Mums flowers which arrived yesterday. Had a good long chat with my Mum who called to say they had arrived !

I did complete the beading on my halloween scissor fob. As you can see below =)

Also Mum sent me a few photos of my Aunt's next two projects.

We had some excitment at work on Thursday, when an unknow van was found outside the building and we were all moved to the other side of the building while they investigated. It was interesting to see how many poeple ignored the instruction to move away from the windows!!
Saturday - had a nice surprise. The lastest issue of Cloth Paper Scissors arrived, Issue 17. Another one of my answers to the monthly questions has been printed =) I have not had time to read the issue and it was my friend L who pointed it out =)
Anyway off to stitch more doors =)
