Two Week Catch Up !

Errm yes some how missed posting last weekend. Not that much happened to stop me, just did not get round to it !

On Monday picked up part one of the Papillon Creations 2008 mystery sampler. It is called How does your Garden grow? As you can see below part1 is all finished. Took a couple of days.

Then I went back to the St Basil's Cathedral kit which is growing fast. Nearly finished the central sheet. Seven sheets in the kit, although someof the side ones are only half sheets really. The Dimple Designs version is all in blues.... The original is much more colourful , follow this link to see ! The building stands on red square.

First Finish for 2008 !

Here is my first finish this year. Started on the 25th Dec. The kit was a gift from DH. The final pieces of back stitch really make the details pop!

The chart is New Inn by Debbie Patrick. I like the victorian buildings which she designs round. As they are all american it fits very well with DH's hobby too :)

Next week my local embroidery group have a pratical evening. The commettee agreed to display all the equipment we bought up last year from another group who were closing, and hold small demonstration for the members of what can been done with the tools.

I will be using the heat gun and wooden stampers. Had a pratise this weekend to see how well they worked and the have a few samples to show. The idea has been to use the stampers to place ink on fabric or paper then use the heat gun on embrossing powder. I had some fabric left over from make the egg plant quilt and I think it looks great used like this.

To help members see what could be done I have turned them all into cards. I am taking a pack on blank cards with me so that each member can make something and see how quick it could be ! See slide show below =)

Sunday Update on the Egg Plant Quilt

Well after the fabric dried I then spent a few hours writing over every piece. I then made the quilt. =)

What to write was the first problem. Then I remembered the rest of the book pages which I had made the paper version from. Thus I sat and copied out the text from the pages.

LOL ~ It was an old history text book. The commentary from the author is so out of date. I think the book ended at the end of World War One... !!

But I think it has really worked. Just spent a busy morning using wonder-under to create the fabric quilt and then machine stitched it all together !! Now where will I go next with it ?? I had thought to make it into a cushion front but it would not be very useable. I am thinking that it should be hung !!! So questions now are should it have an edging , so so what type, how should it hang ??

Want to see the quilt grow... watch the slide show below.

Turning to fabric

The paper quilt is progressing along quite well, still been thinking about the border. But I started to think that it would be a great cushion cover. Thus I have been working on creating something simular in fabric. First I looked at coluring the fabric.

The fabric takes a lot longer to dry than paper. Taped the pieces to the windows to stop the cat 'helping' by sitting the wet paint !!

Next how to get the text on the fabric. Started to look at the different pens. Using a small samples of the painted fabric I tried one or two different ones. I liked the look of the handwriting. Then made this small sample to see how it looked !
What do you think?? I really like the look of the text. The hand writing gives a great feel.
A little close up of one corner.

So what of the pper quilt ?? Well I am hoping to reach a point where I can send it off to QA =)

HAPPY NEW YEAR !

Been doing a little more work on the egg plant. Here is just a small section of the paper quilt I am working on. Using the spare pages from the book I removed when I made my altered art book I painted them with solid dyes. These pages were then cut up and quilted onto the final piece of work.
