Artful Weekend

This weekend been spending time with a friend making fabric minibooks. The aim was to show her the tricks to creating a fabric page using images printed on cotton , paint, ink , lace, ribbon and other embellishments.
The image below is the cover of the book I created. Designed it so I could add more pages later. I had selected photos of children from my Dove book of Victorian pictures. The idea was to turn these into faries by adding wings in different ways.
My friend created pages about her children.

This week was my Mum's birthday. I had created her a photo minibook using old pictures of us both. So now I can show an image of the book properly. The main cover I created using colour wash spays then adding embellishments made from TH fragments of Mum and me.

Quiet Weekend

Had a quiet weekend. Apart from posting a few packages off, spent time at home. Been working on my zentangle book pages while watching Gilmore Girls, while outside it was pouring with rain. Sunday was better as had a clear slot to do a little gardening with DH. We planted the main crop spuds.

Five days of work before a week off, starting with weekend away with BFF.

Rain at last

Yes, we ended the bank holidays with a full day of rain. So pleased , the ground got a good soak, the water butts are full and the pond is up to the right level.

Spent time in the greenhouse picking out lettuce plants into individual pots. Bought a tray of living lettuce from Waitrose for 99p. So far had 44 plants and only about half way through. Ok so some may not take. Checked out the price at the garden center today, tray of 12 were 1.99.

So the greenhouse is now full. Fingers crossed that there us no more frost as then main crop spuds can go out.

Quite a bit of the weekend was spent in my studio making or adding to fabric books. Finishing off watching Tim Holtz's Chemistry 101 videos tutorials. Glad I signed up but sad I could not keep up day by day.

Made a few roses too.

Friday also had a mega tidy in the studio, adding pic of the difference now.

Creative Weekend

Had time this weekend to get creative in my studio. Been looking at creating collage work with fabric. So printed magazine cutouts on to cotton but also used a great cut out from an advert for a paper piece. So much fun using Shiva oil sticks over stencils to create the wings. The oil paint went on thick.
I was glad that the fabric collage could be ironed as the parts were so small.
