Elizabethan Embroidery

Had a couple of days off work.

Thursday went shopping with DH , we managed to finish off most of the Yuletide list for everyone. Just a few things left to pick up. I did get a chance to pop into Evans & spend my birthday tokens on a new jumper. Although not sure how much DH will like it !?! Picked it before I met him for lunch , so it will be a bit of a surprise !

Saturday evening we have booked to go to Trev's !

Friday worked on my research sketch book on Bodices. Which I was pleased to finish 95% of it ! I also started to sort out the the second sketch book. The first few pages will hold all the emboidered textiles samples I had been creating - Also had to sort out what else I need to do to complete the task.

One of the images I had found on the web of a suriving bodice got me thinking and I started to make a pattern of the design. Now I am working on making a copy... Although the original is on white and I am working on purple silk. This could become the front for a bag !

A cold a misty morning .... When cloudy was the weather ....

Its been getting steadly colder the last week. The winter coat and fur hat have come out to play !

Saturday had went to a day school in Bentley. First village hall been too where the heating was so good we started to turn in down/off !! Tanya Wood took us though ribbon embroidery techniques. Explaining a few tricks she has found in the past.

Although I have used ribbon in my work , this really was my first go at pure ribbon embroidery. ALl stitched with silk ribbon , beads and a few fancy threads. Tanya said she aimed to have us complete the project by the end of the day .... =) Which I successfully did ! I think this would look great framed, it may become a Yuletide gift.

Off to see the new Harry Potter tonight with Aunty Buni.

Margaret - The Art Doll

Spent Saturday making an art doll fairy. After reading an article in Quilting Arts, I thought I would have ago. They had provided a pattern and I went from there.

Created her hair from hand dyed wool and made a beaded head dress like my wedding crown.

Her dress is covered in beads , the wings have a layer of green chiffon over a cream glittery fabric then machine embroidered with circles.

I wonder about making the wings out of wire and chiffon with machine lace ! I think I wamt to pad the body and add clothing !!

DH named her after his Aunt as, like his Aunt ,she has a Bohemian feeling about her.

Another HD ...

Opened the final piece from the Aion Seasonal Cushion exchange on Monday. Another beautiful piece. Pulled out some deep blue silk and made up into a cushion front. Still need to add the back on but that should not take too long ! I even have a spare pad for it too. Planning to use the sewing machine's lettering function to write AION FRIENDSHIP CUSHION EXCHANGE 2005 along the back ! Once I have done that will add another picture !




I have also finished tha model I had been stitching. The bad bit is that I can not share a piture with you all yet ! One day ...

So now its onwards with the Yuletide stitching.

Weekend was slow..... and nice.

A bit of shopping on Saturday , much to DH's horror that I had so much to do ! =) But I got it all done =)

Picked up my new phone which is now acting up while Voda phone cut me off and O2 pick up !!!

POURED with rain on Sunday so we both tried to stayed in all day. DH found his shed had two leeks ... so there we were in the rain with the emergancy paint guck stuff on the roof ... Well DH was on the roof I was holding the ladder.

Started a beaded tree ornie.... had to sort the beads out. Found some small pots with lids for the beads - anti Pippi devices.

Started to make up a few of the ornies already stitched. So much easier with the new machine ! They are now stuffed but need the bases stitched up :)

The thread arrived for the module too , so set to finishing that off this morning . Only 3 letters left :)

Friday morning ....

What a week at work. I haven't left on time once ... then next week I have a 7am meeting with ASIA. Will have to check what time the first train from Liss gets to London, as it will be easier to go in then call in from home ! Somehow managed to miss all the rain storms while traveling yesterday =)

Good news the Model I was working on is now 95% finished... Just need some more of the out-lining thread, as I ran out !!! But now can spend time on the Yule stitching I have planned.

The shop called to say my new mobile is ready for collection =)
Plus some of the books for my course have arrived at the library.... So I guess we'll be off to Petersfield on Saturday !
