Bunny Time

During the week I picked up a book on making spring time soft toys all in a American Country Style. Although the author is from Sweden.

The book has bunnies, chicken, hares, duck and good witches !

Picked up some 100% linen on Saturday and made one of the bunnies. As you can see in the picture. The duck has buttons on it to look like a pull along toy ! This went to gether really quick and looks so effective.

I have been getting along with
my hand stitched quilt. Making up the groups of 4 to create green crosses. Here are all the completed ones.

Its on our bed to give a sense of scale.
The across covers the bed, but I will need one and a half down each side.

So some way to go but its really getting there now.

Full Bodies on Suzi Dolls

I have been working on creating a
series of bodies for the doll heads from
last week.
Really enjoying making colouring the
faces. Colour pencils have come back to
my way of thinking ! The dresses are both
coloured with pencils. Did not want to
start digging out the paints.
The Wiccian Doll appeals to me the most. But I do love the stockings on the other one.

Art Classes

Started a new course this week. Learning to draw petit dolls with Suzi Blu. This is one of my first few sketches. We are looking at creating the head and simple bodies. I thought I would add a cat to this. Love the floaty way the hair is laying. Sorted out my work bag so I can have a sketch book with me to practise while on the train each day.

There are lots of other sketches but you'll have to wait to see those.

The rest of this week has been VERY busy at work. I have even been working over the weekend so no other textile finishes to show you.

I did recieve a buddle of fabrics for the quilt project. Thus will be cutting out another set of eight to work on.

Its lovely and sunny outside so had time to work in the garden today.

ART in the POST !

This week two packages arrived with art exchanges coming home! Plus I have been creatively designing while at work. Using a cup holder from my hot chocolate I had started to draw on it. Then back home created a 3D version.
NOW back to the post !

First was a package of GrungePaper exchange from the All Things Tim group. These were varied and wonderful. Great ideas and structures.

Not sure how I shall be using these. I have a couple of mirror frames which the flowers would be great on. The note pad has already been put out for using in my art room.

The second parcel was a book exchange. This was my book coming home ! Below are pictures of the whole book in order. Thanks to the other artists who worked on this !!

Catching Up .. .. .. !

Another two week gap.. Ermmmm =(

Well it was so VERY hot last weekend that I spent most of it in the garden. Although we were sat in the shade of the umbrella enjoying the view and doing lots of internet searches. Why ???

DH has bought my 40th birthday gift .. .. flights to the states for a two week holiday. Thus I had started to look at hotels and a driving route.

Over the last few days been working on the last of the Art Book round robin from the Tim Holtz group. This one will be heading home to Belgium real soon - just need the Shiva oil stick paint to dry out so I can shut the book ! The subject was Blue Circles. Thinking of Blue brought me round to a poem from a children film .. "Blue is beautiful, Blue is Best ,I'mBlue, I'm Beautiful I'm best !" This is from Dougal and the Blue Cat from 1970. I have the sound track record as a child and knew it off by heart.

The film was also known as Pollux et le Chat Bleu. Dougal and the Magic Round About was originally aFrench programme. This link is to YouTube of the introduction. I found that the whole film is on YouTube in 7 parts.

So I started playing with using the Blue cat .... I then contacted the owner of the book to find out if she knew about Dougal. Not only did she remember watching the french versions, she found a photo of her and her younger sister which shows her sister laying on a changing mat with Dougal charactors on it. AND the changing mat had lasted to be used for her own son !!! As she shared the photo with me I used this for the second page. I hope she likes it.

Also we agreed that I could be adventurous and use textiles too ! SO much fun making this.

I have been playing with GrungePaper. Tim Holtz had shown a patch work on his site made from the paper. Thus I thought it would be fun to make a few birthday cards for with patchwork front. The sewing machine stitched the best when a simple zigzag was used, but I wanted to use some of the nice quilting stitches I use on my textile based pieces.

I did not think they came out too bad. Sorry no close up but I have used varigated thread too.
