Artful Weekend

This weekend been spending time with a friend making fabric minibooks. The aim was to show her the tricks to creating a fabric page using images printed on cotton , paint, ink , lace, ribbon and other embellishments.
The image below is the cover of the book I created. Designed it so I could add more pages later. I had selected photos of children from my Dove book of Victorian pictures. The idea was to turn these into faries by adding wings in different ways.
My friend created pages about her children.

This week was my Mum's birthday. I had created her a photo minibook using old pictures of us both. So now I can show an image of the book properly. The main cover I created using colour wash spays then adding embellishments made from TH fragments of Mum and me.

Creative Weekend

Had time this weekend to get creative in my studio. Been looking at creating collage work with fabric. So printed magazine cutouts on to cotton but also used a great cut out from an advert for a paper piece. So much fun using Shiva oil sticks over stencils to create the wings. The oil paint went on thick.
I was glad that the fabric collage could be ironed as the parts were so small.
