Block Printing Results

Well second posting if the weekend.
Here are a few of the printing I managing last night and earily this morning. Started on paper but then moved into fabric. Repeated a few fabric version to allow me to start adding embroidery and beading to the fabric.... well once the ink has dried. Considering hand stitching and machine quilting.

Generally, started with the lighter colours ink then moved on to the darker colours. Found that the yellow did not show on the calico. The purple worked well, as above.

Some of the printing was made on textured paper .

Using two colours on the block gave a good print.

I also made a few stencil versions too.

Zoe, What fun! I love the the sunflower motif. I can't wait to see them stitched. What did you find to be the biggest problem with block printing on fabric?

Hi Sharon ...

The biggest problem was remebering how long the block printing ink took to dry... I'm not goo d waiting, so ended up with my hands coveredin the purple dye !

I had practised getting a good print on paper first which helped. But the block printing ink worked real well on fabric , although I am not sure what would happen should I want to wash the fabric !

The ink is made by Daler Rowney and is water soluble which helped when cleaning hands !
