Block Printing Update

Been working on adding stitches to some of my block printed fabrics.

This sample is machine quilted in one colour. I aimed to not remove the needle until the end. I did use the machine's lettering set up to write Sunflowers along the border.

Next tried different types of machine embroidery. The central row - I have out lined the shapes with a rayon thread. The bottom row I have used the same rayon thread to fill the outlined areas but lightly. Finally on the top row, using a varigated cotton - I have outlined the filled completely ! Although the green has not covered the purple as much as I hoped. I like the effect on the top row best. With all of them I used the thread to alter the shape of the petals to get more flowing lines.

Finally - I am working on hand stitching a green print. Using a range of varigated threads. Each flower has had the different areas treated in slight different ways. I have a few more ideas and four more shapes on the fabric to work on.

I am sure there will be a second update over the weekend. For now off to find the tissues. Went out to the doctors this morning and is was raining SO HARD was soaked by the time I got home and I think a cold is creeping up on me !!!
