Art and Shropshire

Yesterday had a nice day in London round the bead and art shops in Covent Garden with Captain and Z. Did not go too mad but did have a small haul when I got home. Travel was hairy as the train line had engineering works which meant I was on buses for part of the journey.

Been busy creating a very personnel piece of art. The latest issue of Cloth Paper Scissors had an article about creating a collaged affirmation piece of work which would show positive messages. I was quite inspired with this and as there was a boxed canvas waiting in my studio I set aboutcreating my verion, as you can see above. I did like that I could loose most of the head off the top edge as faces are not my strong point. It is going to be hung in my studio.

Now I have already started to plan number two, this time using a simple house image to include positive familly statements. Could become gifts !! Errrmmmm But it was fun playing with paint and mix media other than thread =)

Last weekend visited Shropshire with hubby and our friends C&J. Below is the lovely B&B we stayed in just outside Shrewbury.

Saturday we all went different ways, the boys to visit trains and the girls to go shopping. Then Sunday we all went to the Iron Bridge muesems.

We started the day at Blists Hill the Victorian village. They have started building works so some of the site could not be accessed. All the staff are in costume as you can see below. It was a beautiful day , just check out the blue sky in the back ground of the following pictures. http://family.webshots.com/album/562796068WndeFj See all the picture here.

This is the window of the steamstress. My friend and I spent quite a while in there looking over all the display and chatting with the lady.
After Blists Hill we moved on to the Mueseum of Iron ,of more interest to the boys and we went to look round the Darby House. This held a number of embroideries, embroidery equipment ,lace and a dressing up room which we had lots of fun trying things on. We were basically the only visitors so could spend a good long time.
Then we all moved on to see the Iron Bridge itself and visit the small display muesuem too.

Finally here is Pippi, sitting with me in the studio. I have a rag doll on the day bed in here which she will often sit on, but only on its lap... Arrhh sweetie.
