Meatloaf and the Lily

No this is not a recipe post.

Wednesday evening joined hubby and two friends to see Meatloaf rock at Wemberly. FANTASIC show. We had a wonderful evening in the revamped arena. As ever Meatloaf gave a full evening entertainment. We had had the day off so we drove to London in advance to do a little shopping =)

Booked Thursday and Friday off work too ... COOL =)

Yesterday joined my friend L , for a walk round the Monet exhibtion at the Royal Acadamy. We both really loved his caricatures , which I guess many people would not expect from Monet the master of the waterlilies . Sadly they did not have any postcards of the pictures.

While we were in the area , we poped into Liberty's and I found some wonderful buttons.I have already created a design idea for a ATC using the buttons. To see the images clearly - please click on them. The Blog image add does not work , so this is the best way I have to share with you my work =)

Thursday evening joined hubby to try out at the pub quiz.... We came LAST .... =( So I can not tell you we don't know anything about the carry-on films, not enough about sport or pop music and we are rubbish at guess true or false questions. But it was a fun evening. The pub was packed out.

My dye arrived too ... so have been spending some of today creating some small samples then as before used the computer to create a mock up of the full hanging.

dye_back Here I am slowly adding the fabric every 30 mins to the yellow bath to get the slow fade of colour as you went up.

What do you think ?? I think this could be the one. I do wonder if a little orange dye should be added to the base ? BUT I will be cutting out the fabric tomorrow and starting the dye process. Planning to used a plastic storage box as the dye bath to allow me to keep the fabric flat as I add it to the bath in small folds.

While I had the dye out I also tried a little Magenta bath to create a two colour version.

Also been playing with paint sticks and Treasure gold cream to creat edges of a fabric book. Love the effect on these samples, but how long will it take to dry ?? I have been told that I can iron it between baking parchment to dry off the paint sticks , but will this work for the gold cream? Well I guess there is only one way to find out =)

There are only three images but I have tried the slide show option from Webshots. Click to play and let me know what you think. Is it worth doing more of these ?
