Couture 1947 - 57

A strange title your thinking ....But yesterday I visited the V&A members preview of their new exhibition on the period with my friend L. WOW!!!!!! This is well worth a visit if your in London. L and I also had tickets to hear a talk given by the exhibitions curators. Shorter than we hoped but very interesting. As you can see I treated myself to the sof back book. FULL of pictures to dream over.

The exhibition had news reels running from the period showing the models some which had 19inch waspies (A waist corset) holding them in OMG !!!!! Does the current size zero debate come from this period when the designers definded the size of the women????

Also had a lovely surprise from L ... A hand made book. The photo does not show the colours and textures enough. I tried flash which brought out the gold but killed everything else.

Inside is the watercolour paper has scummy tour edges and is calling out tobe drawn on...BUT not sure what of !!?!??! This may sit by my sewing table for a while as I think about it.....
