Weekend in YORK !

Just back from a weekend away in York with friends.

The guys had selected York as they wanted to visit the National Railway Museum .... Well when they suggested York, my friend C & i said we would proberly find something to do ... LOL .... Not that we remembered at all that the Viking Loom would be there ... !

Saturday morning the boys were off to the other side of York.. We wandered into York and found the Craft Barn , not large but interesting to wander round.... Then onwards to the Shambles which took us past .... The Viking Loom ... well it would have been rude not to go in . An hour later (oooppss) with a extra bag each we carried on ...

Do you like buttons??? We do so had to stop when we found Duttons ... its an aldin's cave of boxes and boxes of buttons !!!!!

Lunch was spent watch Ed Alleyne Johnson and his Purple Electric Violin. Had to take a few videos for DH...
We were also entertained all day by LOADs of morris men dancing round the streets. The best were the Black Pigs (See above)who put me in the mind of the Bedlam Morris men, as all the rest were hankie wavers.... unlike the sticks being cracked by these guys.
By the end of Saturday we had quite a stash collection ...

Over the evening meal the guys mentioned that the radio was talking about a Quilt Show at Harrogate. Our minds raced and came up with the Great Northern Quilt and Needlecraft show .

A quick call to my Mum to check the details in her Cross Stitcher and Harrogate being just down the road ... we had Sunday planned.

The guys were planning a days walking so were happy to leave us too shopping ..... AGAIN !

WOW ... What a day.
Once we found the place, the road signs not being good or even there at times, we spent most of the day. New stall holders who don't normally come down to London, plus some who would only be at a quilting shows. I even ended up with a discount card from BarnYarns (who said they would be at Ally Pally this year) after buying a small pile of machine threads.

For the drive home DH and I took the A roads. This meant we arranged our lunch break around visiting two English Hertiage sites.
